About us

What are we on about?

When the Bible speaks about “The Church”, it’s not talking about a building or a religious institution. “The Church” is just the name for those who have Jesus at the centre of their lives. At St Barnabas’, we are simply that group of people who meet both in Fairfield and Bossley Park to hear what God has to say to us from the Bible.

Following Jesus isn’t about being religious. Jesus taught that he removed any need for religious customs to make us right before God. We can never earn our way to God through good works. And because of God’s great love for us, Jesus has done this for us! Being a Christian is about hearing and believing what Jesus has done by dying on the cross and rising again for us – taking the punishment we deserve. God’s words as they’re recorded and explained in the Bible have the power to renew and change us, to challenge and comfort, to guide and to make us wise.

Being united in Jesus goes well beyond 1hr of Church a week. Feel free to join us… @ lunch together after Church at one of the cheap local restaurants; meet mid-week at someone’s home so as to know each other and Jesus better; plus much more – explore the “groups” menu for even more. Just like the house of a good neighbour, your visit (long or short term ) will always be welcome.
